Threads Photo Downloader
Paste a public Threads post link to inspect its photos and carousel items. Preview each image, compare the dimensions Threads makes available, and save the full-frame or cropped rendition you actually need.
Mixed posts can also return video slides so their published order stays intact. Only download media you own or have permission to use.
Photo post types
One link can contain more than one image
The downloader follows the media attached to the exact public post. It does not flatten every result into a single generic picture.
Image renditions
Read the photo result before you download
Threads can expose several versions of the same image. The result labels are designed to show meaningful differences without claiming that a resized public rendition is the untouched original.
Match the file choice to your goal
- Keep the complete composition
- Choose the largest uncropped dimensions. Avoid an option marked square crop unless the original post is already square.
- Use less storage or upload faster
- Choose a smaller full-frame rendition with the same aspect ratio. It keeps the composition while reducing pixel count.
- Prepare a square image
- Use a square-crop option only after checking the preview. The crop is created by the source CDN, not reconstructed by this site.
- Save a complete carousel
- Use Download all for convenience. If preserving every full frame matters, inspect crop labels and save those items individually.
From a Threads post to the right photo file
There is no profile search or account connection. Start with one post-level URL, then use the dimensions and preview to make an informed choice instead of downloading a mystery file.
Understand carousel downloads- 1
Open the exact Threads post
Use the post’s share menu and copy its link. A profile, feed, search result, or screenshot does not identify which uploaded photo the resolver should inspect.
- 2
Paste the link and review the result
Submit the public post URL above. The result separates image, video, and carousel items and keeps their published order, so you can confirm that the media belongs to the link you supplied.
- 3
Select a rendition and save it
Open the image preview, compare dimensions, check for a square-crop marker, and download the file that fits your use. Your browser decides the final downloads folder.
Public access is the limit, not a login prompt
The downloader requests the public post identified by your URL. It does not request your Threads password or connect to your personal account. Selected image responses are streamed to your browser rather than written to persistent application storage; post metadata may be cached briefly to reduce repeated lookups.
The first thumbnail may load directly from Meta’s CDN before the download proxy takes over. That distinction keeps the privacy explanation accurate instead of promising that your browser never contacts Meta infrastructure.
Keep creator rights attached to the photo
Public visibility is not a license to republish. Respect the creator’s copyright, privacy, and intended audience. Ask for permission before redistribution and follow Threads’ terms plus the laws that apply where you live.
Photo-specific answers
Threads photo downloader FAQ
Details about public access, source dimensions, square crops, carousel downloads, image formats, and reuse rights.
Can I download photos from a private Threads profile?
No. The Threads photo downloader only works with posts that the service can access publicly. It does not sign in as you, use your account, or bypass follower, age, region, or other audience restrictions.
Does the largest option mean the creator’s original photo?
Not necessarily. It means the largest useful rendition detected in the public post response. Threads may resize or recompress an upload before publishing it, so the downloader cannot promise access to the camera original or recover detail the source does not expose.
How do I avoid downloading a cropped image?
Compare the dimensions and look for the square-crop marker. For a portrait or landscape photo, choose a full-frame option with the matching aspect ratio. Previewing the item before saving is the safest way to confirm its composition.
Can I save every photo from a Threads carousel?
Yes, when the public post resolves with multiple image items. They are displayed in their published order. You can save items separately or use Download all; your browser may ask for permission before allowing several files.
Why does a Threads image save as JPG when its URL mentions HEIC?
Threads can store an image under a HEIC-looking path while asking its CDN to deliver JPEG bytes. The proxy checks the delivered content type and uses the matching extension, preventing a normal JPEG from being mislabeled as HEIC.
What happens when a carousel contains both photos and videos?
The result preserves both media types and their source order instead of discarding the video slides. Use the photo cards for image downloads and the video cards for any clips you also have permission to save.
Can a quoted or reposted photo be detected?
Sometimes. If a Threads post has no uploaded media of its own, the resolver can inspect supported quoted, reposted, or inline media attached to it. When the post includes its own upload, that media takes priority.
Does the downloader remove watermarks or grant reuse rights?
No. It adds no new watermark, but text, logos, or marks already inside the photo remain. Downloading a publicly reachable file does not transfer copyright or permission to republish it; save only media you own or are authorized to use.
