Instagram Video Downloader
Paste the URL of a public Instagram Reel, video post, or mixed carousel. The tool checks the media attached to that post, shows the distinct files it can detect, and lets you choose an available rendition without installing an extension.
Downloads depend on what Instagram currently exposes for the link. Only save media you own or have permission to use.

What the Instagram downloader can save
One Instagram URL can point to a single clip or a post assembled from several media items. Results follow the post rather than forcing every link into a one-video template.
From an Instagram link to a saved file
There is no username search and no account connection. Start on Instagram, copy the URL for the individual post, then return to the form above.
Learn how to copy a Reel link- 1
Copy one post URL
Open the Reel or post itself and use Instagram’s Copy link action. A profile address is not enough because it does not identify which piece of media to resolve.
- 2
Paste and inspect
Submit the URL in the Instagram video downloader. When the post is publicly reachable, the result panel identifies its video, photo, or carousel items and exposes distinct renditions instead of repeating duplicate files.
- 3
Choose what to save
Preview the detected item, compare the dimensions offered for that clip, and select the file you need. Your browser controls where the completed download is stored.
File details
What the result labels actually mean
Quality badges and format names describe delivered source files. They are not promises that every Instagram post includes the same options.
Public access is the boundary
The downloader requests the public post identified by the URL; it does not ask for your Instagram password or connect to your personal account. If Instagram requires a viewer to sign in or belong to an approved audience, the normal public-post workflow cannot retrieve that media.
Selected playback and download responses are streamed through the site’s media proxy rather than written to persistent application storage. Post metadata may be cached briefly to reduce repeated lookups. An initial thumbnail can still be requested directly by your browser from Meta’s CDN, so this page does not make the inaccurate claim that your browser never contacts Meta infrastructure.
Use downloaded media responsibly
A technically accessible file is not automatically free to republish. Respect the creator’s copyright, privacy, and the audience they intended. Keep personal copies only where permitted, request consent before redistribution, and follow Instagram’s terms plus the laws that apply to you.
Common questions
Instagram video downloader FAQ
Straight answers about public access, source quality, formats, carousels, and failed links.
Can I download a video from a private Instagram account?
No. The downloader is intended for posts that Instagram makes publicly accessible without signing in. A link copied from a private account, a restricted post, or content unavailable to the server cannot be resolved. Do not use the tool to bypass access controls.
Will every Instagram video download as an MP4?
Instagram commonly delivers video as MP4, but the saved extension and content type depend on the source response. The tool passes through an available rendition rather than converting every file to a promised format.
What does the HD badge mean?
HD is shown when the detected rendition has a shortest side of at least 720 pixels. It describes that delivered file, not an enhancement. If Instagram only exposes a smaller rendition, the downloader cannot manufacture a sharper version.
Can I save all videos and photos from an Instagram carousel?
Yes, when the public post resolves successfully. Videos and photos are returned as separate items in the creator’s original order. You can inspect individual results and use the available save controls for the media you need.
Does this tool remove Instagram or creator watermarks?
No watermark-removal process is applied. Threads Downloader adds no new watermark of its own, but text, logos, usernames, or other marks already present in the creator’s media remain in the downloaded file.
Why is a valid-looking Instagram link not working?
Confirm that the URL opens one public post or Reel rather than a profile, collection, or inbox view. The post may also have been deleted, restricted, or temporarily unavailable. Stories and highlights may require an authenticated server session, so they are not an unconditional feature of this public-post downloader.
Ready to check a public Instagram post?
Return to the form, paste the individual post URL, and review the detected files before choosing a download. If you are still inside Instagram, the link guide shows exactly where to find Copy link.
